Atlantis: Boat Expansion

Atlantis: Boat Expansion

  • Description

A small expansion of the Atlantis game which was a free give-away at Essen 2009. It contains four wooden ships. The boats function more or less like the bridges in the basegame, but you can use other people ships to cross, by paying the correct amount to the bank or half the amount to the player who's ship you use.

    Translation of german rules
    "Ships variation"
Idea: Leo Colovini / Fedinand de Cassan

At the start of the game each player receives the ship in his colour.

All players can now at any moment during their turn place either a bridge or a ship in a gap in the road. Just like the bridge the ship remains there till the end of the game.
If a player crosses a gap, in which his own ship lies, he can cross this free of charge. If a player wants to cross a gap with another players ship, he can pay the normal price to cross the gap to the bank or he can pay half (rounded down, at least 1 point) to the owner of the ship. To pay one can use, like in the base game, either tiles or cards.

    (back)
    Example:
Blue plays a blue Ring-card and moves his figure A to the Ring-tile 2. To cross the 1st gap he pays 1 point to the bank. For the 2nd gap he pays 2 points (half of 4) to white, and for the 3rd gap he pays 1 point (half of 3 rounded down) to red. The bridge can be crossed free of charge.

It is possible that a player can choose between ships when crossing a gap - either because multiple ships have been placed in a single gap, or because multiple gaps with ships have grown together during the game. In that case the player can choose to use any one of the ships or pay the bank. If a bridge is present, crossing a gap is always free.
